Convict found dead 6 years after escape

The search for Peter Sedom, an American who escaped from Korydallos Prison six years ago after murdering his 20-year-old girlfriend in Glyfada, has ended after the Greek police discovered that the convict had been found dead in Venezuela.

Interpol informed Greek authorities that a body found at a hotel in Venezuela around the beginning of the year was identified as that of Sedom.

The US national escaped from jail with the assistance of prison psychologist Olga Atzamoglou. Two years ago, the Greek Embassy in Colombia was notified that Atzamoglou had been found dead in the South American country.

Three people, including a former warden and guard at Korydallos Prison, were cleared in November 2006 of helping Sedom escape from custody.
