New closing times for museums and archaeological sites come into effect for August, closing at 8.30 p.m. in Athens and other Olympic cities. Most open at 8 a.m. or 8.30 a.m.

Olympic mass transport measures from today include 24-hour services on the tram and metro Line 1 today, tomorrow and from Friday.

A statue of famed Greek marathon runners Spyros Louis and Stylianios Kyriakides is to be unveiled in Marathon Square at 9 p.m. Louis won the inaugural marathon in the 1896 Olympics and Kyriakides won the Boston Marathon in 1946 and drew attention to the famine in Greece.

Olympic Torch Relay visits Thebes and Marathon.
