Members of Athens’s municipal band turn to watch fireworks light up over Syntagma Square yesterday as Mayor Nikitas Kaklamanis switched on this year’s Christmas tree lights. Syntagma will host a series of concerts over the countdown to Christmas, and through New Year’s Eve. Festivities are also planned for several other central squares.
