Customers at the Modiano Market in Thessaloniki have a look through the fruit and vegetables on offer. Meat is also sold at the market. Yesterday the general secretary for consumers, Thanassis Skordas, said that he had contacted all of Greece’s prefects asking for stepped-up checks on food products sold in the runup to next Sunday’s Orthodox Easter.
