Gang’s run comes to an end with 10 arrests

Police in central Greece said yesterday that they have caught 10 of the 14 members of a gang that carried out more than 150 robberies, mainly burglaries at homes and businesses.

The chief of police in central Greece, Yiannis Rachovitsas, described the gang, made up of foreign nationals aged 20 to 35, as “particularly dangerous.”

They often broke into homes late at night and stole the keys to expensive cars. They also seized the opportunity to steal valuables such as laptops or mobile phones if they came across them during the break-ins. The gang is alleged to have carried out two armed robberies.

Rachovitsas said that seven suspects were arrested following an investigation, three are already in custody for other offenses and arrest warrants have been issued for another four alleged members of the gang.
