Training exercise...

SIMELA PANTZARTZI/ANA

Rescuers from Greece (l) and Turkey (r) took part in a joint training exercise in Athens yesterday as part of confidence-building measures between the two countries. Twelve members of an air force rescue team represented Greece while another 12 members of a Turkish army rescue team also took part in the exercise, which was designed to replicate conditions after an earthquake. Lieutenant Colonel Giorgos Beldekos said the exercise was carried out in an ‘exceptional atmosphere of cooperation’ and showed the two teams could work together.
