24-hour strike...

VAIOS HASIALIS/EUROKINISSI

A resident of the island of Hydra in the Saronic Gulf minds his donkey yesterday as tourists board a high-speed ferry bound for Piraeus. The country’s ports yesterday were unaffected by a 24-hour strike by the civil servants’ union ADEDY that resulted in the cancellation of dozens of international and domestic flights, including 110 Olympic Airlines routes and 48 Aegean Airlines connections. Public transport was also running as normal, though the action led to the closure of primary and secondary schools and left state hospitals running on emergency staff.
