A fisherman at the small port of Stylida holds up a dead fish, one of thousands that have washed up in the broader area of the Maliakos Gulf in central Greece in recent months. Local fishermen have appealed for government support, saying pollution has resulted in serious depletion of the local fish population and a plunge in sales.
