A report attributing blame for the power cut which crippled Attica and much of southern Greece last Monday is expected to be ready by the middle of next week, Development Minister Dimitris Sioufas said on Tuesday.

Also on Tuesday, Athens’s chief prosecutor Dimitris Papangelopoulos called for the launch of an urgent preliminary investigation to determine whether any individuals should face criminal charges for the blackout which caused transport chaos after traffic lights were knocked out and electricity cut on the metro.

Sioufas told Skai radio that a report on the blackout would be made public in about eight days from Tuesday. The first impressions are that the power cut was caused by “mistaken assumptions” and “poor coordination,” Sioufas said. He added that measures were being taken to avert a similar occurrence.
