Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis meets...

ANA/POOL

Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis (r) meets with Cypriot President Tassos Papadopoulos on the sidelines of the third Council of Europe summit in Warsaw yesterday. Karamanlis also had a brief meeting with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, which the latter said was conducted in a ‘friendly atmosphere.’ Neither side gave any more details. The two leaders are due to meet again in the Evros region of northeastern Greece at the end of June for the inauguration of a gas pipeline between the two countries. Meanwhile, exploratory talks between a senior aide to the Cypriot president and UN officials to design a framework for fresh negotiations over the island’s reunification began in New York yesterday.
