Olympiakos took advantage of the bad weather this weekend to move back to the top of the Super League as it beat Ergotelis 1-0 on Saturday while title rivals Panathinaikos and AEK had their games snowed off yesterday.

Panathinaikos’s game at Atromitos and AEK’s match against Xanthi at the Olympic Stadium were two of three games postponed yesterday. The other was Levadiakos’s tie against Iraklis.

Although Super League rules said the games have to be held today, weather permitting, the league’s organizer said yesterday they will be rescheduled to be played within the next two weeks.

Olympiakos, on the other hand, will be relieved to have got its game out of the way on Saturday as it gears up for a Champions League home tie against Premiership side Chelsea tomorrow.

Olympiakos has been struggling with its form lately and there was nothing in Saturday’s game to suggest that this is set to change. The reigning champions only secured the win against bottom side Ergotelis by the slenderest of margins. Even the goal had a touch of fortune about it as captain Predrag Djordjevic had his 28th minute penalty saved but followed up to score the rebound.

The win gives Olympiakos 47 points, Panathinaikos has 46 and AEK 42 points, all from 20 games.

Also on Saturday, Larissa continued its recent revival with a 1-0 home win over Panionios.

In the three games that were played yesterday, PAOK picked up its first away win of the season, beating Apollon Kalamarias 2-0, OFI hammered fellow strugglers Veria 3-0 on Crete and Aris beat Asteras Tripolis 2-0.
