Greek sprinters Costas Kenteris and Katerina Thanou were at the center of the biggest drug scandal of last year’s Athens Olympics but 14 months later still do not know their fate after the Court of Arbitration of Sport (CAS) yesterday asked for more time to consider their case.

The court in Lausanne spent up to 20 hours over the weekend hearing testimony in relation to the athletes’ missed drug test on the eve of the Games last August. But yesterday CAS adjourned the hearing so more witnesses and closing arguments could be heard. A date for a new hearing was not immediately set.

In March, the Greek amateur athletics federation (SEGAS) cleared the sprinters of charges that they dodged three drug tests in the lead-up to the Olympics. The International Amateur Athletics Federation appealed the decision to CAS, demanding Kenteris and Thanou be banned for two years.
