The chief of Cyprus’s National Guard...

The chief of Cyprus’s National Guard, Commander Athanassios Nikolodimos (left), shows Greek President Karolos Papoulias a Turkish-occupied area from a Greek-Cypriot military guardhouse in Nicosia yesterday. ‘The consequences of Ankara not fulfilling the obligations it has undertaken by agreeing to the framework for negotiations with the European Union could also lead to the negation of any kind of relationship between Turkey and the EU,’ Papoulias said following his talks with Cypriot President Tassos Papadopoulos on Sunday when he arrived in Cyprus. This is Papoulias’s first official visit since he came to office in February.
