Talks on the Macedonia name...

Simela Pantzartzi/ANA

At the Foreign Ministry yesterday, (from left) Minister Dora Bakoyannis, Greek diplomat Adamantios Vassilakis and United Nations mediator Matthew Nimetz prepare for talks on the Macedonia name dispute. Nimetz did not make any new proposals during his visit, as had been expected, but said he had gained ‘a better understanding of the objections of both sides.’ It was the mediator’s first talks with diplomats since Athens vetoed Skopje’s bid to join NATO at the alliance’s summit in Bucharest earlier this month.
