Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis (left) with the President of China, Hu Jintao, yesterday in Beijing. Karamanlis, who is being escorted on his three-day trip by some of his government’s most senior ministers, is expected to depart for Shanghai today where he will speak at a Greek-Chinese business conference. Diplomatic sources have described talks on the trip so far as being held in a friendly environment. Along with diplomatic issues, Karamanlis’s agenda includes discussions intended to encourage business with local industry, particularly in the fields of shipping and tourism.
