Six days into a strike...

Six days into a strike by municipal workers across Greece, garbage was beginning to pile up alarmingly in Athens yesterday. Workers’ representatives, demanding higher pay and objecting to moves to allow private companies to collect garbage, are to meet today to decide whether to continue with their strike for another 48 hours. The Athens Municipality appealed for an end to the protest, citing the danger to public health.
