Fitting to a Greek soccer match...

GREG WOOD/AFP

In scenes more fitting to a Greek soccer match than the Australian Open, Greek and Cypriot supporters light a flare to celebrate the victory of Cyprus’s Marcos Baghdatis over Spaniard Tommy Robredo in a third-round match yesterday at the tennis tournament in Melbourne. Police and tournament security staff had to be called in to impose order on the rowdy crowd. Baghdatis beat the tournament’s 13th seed in three straight sets, 7-6 (7/2) 6-4, 6-1. He will next play the world No. 1 seed, Roger Federer of Switzerland, tomorrow.
