The Greek branch of an international organization that combats corruption has produced a list of 10 things that Greeks should watch out for and plans to distribute it to drivers on the national roads in an effort to raise awareness.

Transparency International Greece revealed yesterday that it has put together a “Decalogue of Corruption” to highlight rules that Greeks should follow if they are to stamp out corruption.

“We are not aiming to replace the political leadership or become a substitute for the country’s institutions,” said the organization’s president, Costas Bakouris. “Instead, we want to create the basis on which a modern Greece, free of corruption, can be built.”

It is estimated that more than 600 million euros are paid in bribes each year in Greece. One in five residents admits to having paid a bribe at some point in their lives.
