Hidden camera found in women’s bathroom

A 53-year-old civil engineer was being questioned by police yesterday after he allegedly hid a video camera in the women’s toilets of his Athens office.

Police said that a female employee reported her suspicions when, during a conversation with the suspect, he let slip some details about the woman’s body that he should not have known. A raid of the offices followed and police uncovered a digital camera hidden in a paper dispenser in the toilets and eight video cassettes containing footage of female employees and customers.

Authorities said that the video footage and photographs confiscated were of the most advanced being distributed on the Internet.

It is the first time such an incident has been uncovered in Greece, since hidden video cameras have until now only been detected in dressing rooms.
