Foreign Minister George Papandreou met yesterday with Orthodox Patriarch Irenaios in Jerusalem. Today, Papandreou and his Turkish counterpart, Ismail Cem, are scheduled to meet with Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat in his besieged headquarters in Ramallah and with Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon. Before leaving Athens, Papandreou spoke of the symbolic nature of the Greek-Turkish visit.
