Five Pakistani migrants yesterday appealed against a decision by prosecutor Nikos Degaitis not to pursue six agents of the National Intelligence Agency (EYP) who they claim were involved in kidnapping the immigrants last year.

Through their lawyer Frangiskos Ragousis, the Pakistanis said that they were not satisfied with EYP’s explanation that three of the agents were on leave at the time of the alleged incident last July — two abroad and one attending his son’s baptism. In their appeal, the migrants said that EYP’s version of events was “not believable” and that confirmation of the agents’ absence by the agency itself could not be considered a reliable alibi.

They also complained that during the preliminary investigation by Degaitis, they were not shown any photographs of the agents so they could identify whether they were the same men that allegedly abducted and interrogated them.
