Monday

Newspaper and printing employees stage a 24-hour strike in protest at new legislation introducing more flexible working hours and reducing the cost of overtime. There will be no newspapers tomorrow.

Deputy Culture Minister Petros Tatoulis to meet with members of the Association of Greek Archaeologists at 2 p.m. to discuss changes to the management and operation of state museums.

Directors of the Central Union of Municipalities and Communities of Greece (KEDKE) to convene to discuss the allocation of funds from the European Union’s Third Community Support Framework and proposals for the restoration of illegally operating landfills.

Tuesday

Greece’s largest umbrella labor union GSEE stages a 24-hour strike in protest of labor reforms.

Public transport to be disrupted from 5 a.m. to 11 a.m. as staff join a 24-hour strike called by the civil servants’ union ADEDY.

Trolley bus drivers will be striking between 5 a.m. and 11 a.m., and between 10 p.m. and midnight.

Employees of broadcasting media organizations stage a 24-hour strike to protest labor reforms. Television technicians are to stage a six-hour work stoppage from noon for the same reason.

Communist-led PAME labor movement holds protest march against labor and working hour reforms, starting in Kaningos Square at 10 a.m. Parallel demonstrations are to be held at the same time in Thessaloniki and other cities.

The Federation of Trade Associations of Northwestern Greece are to join the 24-hour strike in protest of labor reforms, which means many stores in the region will be closed.

Wednesday

Athens metro workers to stage a work stoppage from 5 a.m. until 11 a.m. in protest of the stance taken by the firm’s management over negotiations for a new collective work contract.

Friday

Traffic will be disrupted on Irodou Attikou Street and Vassileos Georgiou Avenue until August 4 because of works on the natural gas network.
