Net becomes election tool

An increasing number of politicians, including current Public Order Minister Vyron Polydoras and former PASOK Public Order Minister Michalis Chrysochoidis, have created weblogs (blogs) to record their thoughts ahead of next month’s general election.

In a departure for Greek politics, a growing number of politicians are looking to the Internet to boost their image and reach out to voters.

In this vein, Skai TV has reached an agreement with video sharing website YouTube for Greek voters to record their thoughts and questions using their computers or mobile phones ahead of the September 16 poll.

The videos will then be shown during the three political debates to be broadcast by the station, beginning on September 3.

Anyone interested in recording a message should visit www.youtube.com/skaidebate

Any messages that are deemed offensive will not be shown on TV.
