Suspect held in mother and daughter rape

An Albanian construction worker was arrested yesterday on suspicion of having raped an Athenian woman and her 12-year-old daughter last November, police said yesterday.

Petrit Antemi, 28, was taken into custody on Thursday night following a three-month investigation by officers, who said that they had collected DNA evidence which matched his from the crime scene.

Father of two Antemi is alleged to have raped an unnamed 35-year-old woman and her young daughter on November 8, after threatening them with a screwdriver at a building site in the suburb of Galatsi, where he also lived, according to police.

Police said that there was an outstanding warrant for the arrest of Antemi, who was living legally in Greece, for other crimes, which they did not detail. He was due to serve two jail sentences totaling 23 months.
