Hit-and-run driver is sought after man dies

Police in Athens were yesterday looking for the driver of a car who hit and killed a 50-year-old pedestrian in the eastern suburb of Aegaleo before abandoning the scene of the accident.

The incident occurred early yesterday on Athinon Avenue near the Thivon Avenue underpass.

Police said that they are looking for the driver of a silver-colored Skoda automobile but did not say which model it was likely to have been. The right front of the vehicle is likely to be dented from the impact, according to officers.

Traffic police in Athens have issued a request for anyone who might have further information about the accident to contact them at tel 210.532.6670.

No more information was made public about the victim.
