Kidnapping of boy solved

Police have arrested a suspect in connection to the kidnapping of a 12-year-old boy in Athens in February and said yesterday they have identified two others believed to have been involved in the abduction.

The child escaped from his abductors, who had demanded –1 million from his parents.

The 30-year-old man arrested on Monday apparently told police that he was involved in the kidnapping, which was coordinated with two other suspects, a man and a woman.

All three suspects are Albanian nationals, according to authorities.

Police said the woman was allegedly employed by the child’s father and helped organize the kidnapping by telling her partners about the boy’s whereabouts as well as details about the family’s home.

The suspect apparently had in his possession the mobile phone number used to call the child’s father and demand ransom money.
