Athenians look at...

Orestis Panayiotou/ANA

Athenians look at an encased section of the ancient riverbed of the Eridanus at the Monastiraki metro station in central Athens. The encased riverbed is on display behind one of the station’s platforms and protected by glass walls and a glass floor. Works on a metro extension from Monastiraki to Aegaleo, in western Athens, have unearthed many more ancient relics which will be displayed at three new stations, due to open in May.
