Scheduled elections...

Apostolis Zacharakis/Eurokinissi

A student drops her ballot paper into a box during rector elections yesterday at the technical college in Volos, central Greece. Scheduled elections at the technical college (TEI) of Patras and the University of Thessaly were disrupted by student sit-ins. The Athens TEI said it would remain closed until Friday in protest at the decision by some lecturers on Monday to use a fake ballot box in a bid to ensure that rector elections went smoothly. Meanwhile, a crowd of students staged a rally outside Athens City Hall, protesting the mayor’s support for reforms paving the way for the creation of private universities.
