Police onto high-class Internet escort ring

Police said yesterday they are unraveling a high-class international escort ring that would set up appointments for female models from Eastern European countries in Athens and charge clients up to 4,500 euros a visit.

Two of the alleged prostitutes, both from the Czech Republic, were arrested at an Athens hotel after an undercover police officer had made an appointment with one of them, authorities said.

The two women are believed to have collected a total of 60,000 euros during trips to three European cities.

The ring is allegedly an Internet-run operation that involves about 100 women and is controlled by a man in the Czech Republic.

The suspects told police that they had never met the man in charge and would hand over commissions to a contact who would meet them at the airport upon their return.
