Residents of a village near Nafplion, in the Peloponnese, donned their waterproof gear yesterday and tried to unblock street drains after heavy rainfall caused widespread flooding. Heavy rain, and even hailstones in parts, caused widespread problems on the national road network and damage to farmland. Weather conditions are expected to deteriorate further today with storms and strong winds.
