65th anniversary...

GIORGOS FOTIADIS/ANA

A father and his two children wave national flags as they look out at a military ship in Thessaloniki harbor yesterday during celebrations held to mark the 65th anniversary of Greece entering World War II. On a sunny day in the northern Greek city, thousands of people turned out to watch the military parade, while F-16 and Mirage jets flew overhead. President Karolos Papoulias was among the government officials who attended the parade. In Athens, a student march was held to mark the occasion, while thousands of Athenians took the opportunity to escape the city and enjoy the long weekend.
