Greek women are not having enough sex, mainly due to a dearth of suitable partners, according to a survey on female sexuality made public yesterday.

A poll of 400 Athens and Thessaloniki women aged 18-54, conducted on behalf of the Andrological Institute and the Institute for Female Sexual Health, found that most respondents had not engaged in sexual activity with another person for a period ranging from two months to two years.

Some 25.4 percent said the last time they had made love was between two and five months before the poll, while 22.4 percent had been without a partner for six months to one year. For 17.4 percent, the period of abstinence had been one to two years.

In the 25-34 age group, 47 percent had forgone sex for six months to two years.

Some 69.3 percent attributed their inactivity to a lack of suitable partners, while 12.4 percent said they were not interested in sex. Most respondents (43.8 percent) said they had their first sexual experience between the ages of 15-18.
