Greece’s Angelos Charisteas...

PETROS GIANNAKOURIS/AP

Greece’s Angelos Charisteas (in the No. 9 jersey) heads the ball into Albania’s net during the 33rd minute of yesterday’s qualifying match for the 2006 World Cup. Greece won 2-0 in the packed Karaiskaki Stadium in Neo Faliron, with Giorgos Karagounis scoring the second goal five minutes from the end of play. Despite fears of hooligan violence, the match went smoothly — although there were no Albanians in the stands — and no incidents had been reported by late yesterday.
