VASSILIS PSOMAS/ANA

An exact replica of the Spanish vessel Victoria, the first ship to sail around the world in the early 16th century, passed through the Corinth Canal yesterday on its way from Greece. The Victoria is sailing home to Spain after completing a world voyage that has taken it to Colombia, Singapore and Sudan, among other stops. The ship is equipped with 16th century navigational instruments as used by Ferdinand Magellan when he circumnavigated the globe between 1519-1522. The ship docked in Piraeus for a week.
