Lawyers’ blast over Alex case

Two lawyers deemed to have exploited public interest in the case of a missing 11-year-old to increase their exposure have been indicted to appear before the Athens Bar Association’s disciplinary committee, it was revealed yesterday.

Frangiskos Ragousis and Stavros Georgiou belong to “a minority of Greek lawyers who exploit sensitive social issues... (and) without respect for their profession or for human dignity discredit the function they have been entrusted with,” ABA president Dimitris Paxinos said yesterday.

Both men face criticism for promoting themselves on television debates about the disappearance Alex Meshivili and for allegedly revealing confidential details of the case.
