Vassilis Spanoulis...

TOSHIFUMI KITAMURA/AFP

Greek basketball player Vassilis Spanoulis (left) races ahead of his French opponent Yannick Bokolo as the two men chase the ball in yesterday's quarterfinal at the World Basketball Championships in Japan. Greece beat France 73-56 to advance to the semifinals tomorrow, when they will face the USA, which had a comfortable victory over Germany yesterday. France did not trouble the European Champions, who held the lead throughout the game in Saitama. Greece has now won all seven of its games at the tournament, as have all the semifinalists. The other semifinal will be contested between Spain and Argentina. Greece last played the American 'Dream Team' at the Athens Olympics two years ago. The USA won that match 77-71 and is the favorite to go through to the final.
