‘Violence does not offer the answer’...

BORIS HORVAT/AFP

Foreign Minister Dora Bakoyannis (center) is seen yesterday at a meeting in Paris of her European Union counterparts that was called to discuss the Israeli attacks on Gaza. Following the meeting, the EU called for a ‘permanent ceasefire’ in the region and for access to be granted to humanitarian aid. The EU then joined the US, the United Nations and Russia, the so-called Quartet, to demand an immediate ceasefire. ‘Violence does not offer the answer,’ said Bakoyannis before the meeting. ‘Violence cannot solve any problems.’ Greece has offered to send humanitarian aid to Gaza.
