AEK to unveil coach Dusan Bajevic today

Dusan Bajevic has already started work as the new coach at AEK, although the official announcement is still pending and is expected today.

The Serb manager, who resigned from Aris Thessaloniki on July 1, is about to start his third stint on the bench of the club he also graced as a player in the 1970s. His appointment marks a huge shift in the policy of AEK, as the same board when it was headed by Demis Nikolaidis had ruled out any return of the manager who had abandoned the club twice in the past.

Bajevic had his first meeting yesterday with the existing coaches who may form part of his managing team, although it is reported that his assistant will be former AEK player Lyssandros Georgamlis.

AEK is also set to announce the name of the new president of the club, which is likely to be Nikos Notias (one of the main shareholders), and unveil veteran Stelios Manolas as the club’s general manager.

Asteras Tripolis, which failed in its bid to hire Bajevic, has made an offer to former Chelsea coach Avraam Grant, according to a sports radio station in Athens.
