Dudu close to Reds move

Olympiakos was last night close to signing a major name in Brazilian soccer, Dudu Cearense, from CSKA Moscow, the Russian club’s technical director announced yesterday.

He suggested that a deal has been struck between the Greek team and CSKA Moscow for the amount of 6 million euros. The defensive midfielder will sign a three-year contract that will earn him about 1.5 million euros per season. The transfer of the 25-year-old is likely to be completed today.

Dudu has 12 caps with Brazil and is currently a regular starter. He played his last game with CSKA on Sunday against Samara and has had his wish of leaving cold Russia granted at last.

Olympiakos was also expecting late last night the arrival of Argentinean midfielder Sebastian Leto, as it had announced.

The Liverpool-owned player is coming to Olympiakos on loan, as he has failed to gain a work permit in Britain. His Italian passport has reportedly been revoked, so in Greece he will be listed as an overseas player. He was set to join the rest of the Olympiakos squad today at this advanced stage of the club’s training.
