Reds sack Ivic over club’s next manager

Olympiakos soccer club's technical director Ilia Ivic was sacked yesterday following a disagreement with the board over who will be the team's next manager. Reports suggested that Olym-piakos chief Sokratis Kokkalis ousted the Serb former player after a board meeting was held to discuss plans for the new season. Hired a year ago after holding the same post at AEK, Ivic's arrival was heralded as part of Olympiakos's new era. His hiring coincided with that of the boss's son, Petros Kokkalis, as chief executive. Ivic had been credited with orchestrating and securing most of Olympiakos's signings over the past year. He is also believed to have been the cause of coach Takis Lemonis's dismissal with six rounds left in the season.
