Basketball TV rights dispute seems settled
The problem of television rights to games in the basketball league was virtually resolved on Monday, with the state broadcaster likely to undertake all teams without a TV contract. In the meeting of ESAKE, the clubs’ league, it was announced that ERT will sign a deal with Kolossos Rhodes, Olympia Larissa, Aegaleo, Kavala and Trikala and screen their home matches during the new season. A formal announcement is expected today. This means the draw for the new season will take place without problems tonight (9 p.m.), while TV rights are now split between three channels. ESAKE is considering bundling all teams’ rights into one package once all existing contracts expire, which is in three years’ time for some clubs.
