Cyprus issues apology to Egytian ambassador after airport fracas
Cyprus on Wednesday officially apologized to Egyptian Ambassador Menha Mahrous Bakhoum following an incident at Larnaca Airport when she was asked to remove her boots during a security check on December 29.
A female police officer was allegedly slapped during the fracas, which took place in the airport’s departure hall as the diplomat was seeing off members of her family.
“The Foreign Ministry publicly apologizes and sincerely regrets the whole treatment of the ambassador,” a statement said.
