Samaras expected to resume duties after eye operation
The doctor treating Prime Minister Antonis Samaras following an operation to repair his damaged retina believes the New Democracy leader will be able to assume his duties this week.
Samaras was visited by Panagiotis Theodosiadis at his home in Kifissia, northern Athens on Sunday. ďEverything is progressing satisfactorily and I donít see any reason why the prime minister wonít be able to attend the presentation of the governmentís policy program in Parliament on Thursday,Ē the doctor told reporters.
Samaras was prevented from travelling to the European Union leadersí summit on Thursday and has been holding meetings with government officials at his home while recovering from surgery on June 30.
The prime minister is expected to begin working from his official office at Maximos Mansion today.
