Samaras to meet Merkel next week in Berlin, German official says
A German government official said on Friday that Chancellor Angela Merkel was to receive Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras in Berlin next week.
Merkel's spokesman Steffen Seibert said Merkel was to meet with Samaras on Tuesday, noting that the meeting, though unofficial, would be an opportunity for the two politicians to review Greece's progress in implementing reforms pledged by Athens to international creditors.
Samaras is due to visit the German capital to take part in an economic conference organized by German newspaper Die Welt in which Merkel is also due to participate, Seibert said.
There was no immediate comment from the office of Samaras.
