Anti-terrorist squad searching Athens apartment after bank robbery arrests
Members of Greece’s anti-terrorist squad were searching an apartment in the northern Athens suburb of Maroussi on Monday morning.
Sources said the property was linked to the four suspects arrested in Velvento, northern Greece, on Friday following two armed bank robberies.
Police believe that two of the suspects are linked to the Conspiracy of the Cells of Fire urban guerrilla group.
Skai TV reported police sources saying that someone had unsuccessfully tried to break into the apartment, suggesting that members of the group may have tried to enter the property to destroy evidence.
Reports also suggest that police raided the apartment after an anonymous tip off from someone who recognized one of the four suspects in photos that were published by police on Sunday.
