Resident doctors at the General Hospital of Serres in northern Greece entered their second day of go-slow action on Tuesday as they protest payment delays.
Some 70 percent of the hospital's residents have joined the action, claiming that they have not been paid for emergency shifts since August.
According to their representative, Ilias Dimitrelos, "the doctors have called go-slow actions in response to the indifference shown by the hospital's management to pay for emergency shifts." He said the action will continue until an agreement with the management is reached.
Patients who have booked appointments at the hospital are advised to call in advance to check whether a doctor will be available to attend to them, while the hospital's management said that the action has so far not affected the emergency unit and that special doctors have been assigned to cover for striking residents.
