More than 650 detained, 210 arrested by police as Xenios Zeus sweep continues

Police detained more than 650 migrants in central Athens Friday as part of the Xenios Zeus campaign, which was launched this summer in a bid to clamp down on illegal immigration.

Police said that of the 654 people detained, 210 were arrested because they did not have proper residence papers.

Officers said they searched eight properties as part of the crackdown.
