Papoulias says Germans will only gain from investments in Greece
Greek President Karolos Papoulias has called on German businesspeople to invest in Greece during a visit to Berlin.
“A lot has changed thanks to the sacrifices of the Greek people,” said Papoulias. “I would like to assure you that German entrepreneurs only have gains to make from their activities in Greece.
Papoulias was speaking after a meeting with his German counterpart, Joachim Gauck, who assured Greeks that they could continue to count on German support during the economic crisis.
“True friendship comes to the fore in times of crisis,” Gauck said. “In times of crisis, we should expect both sides to live up to their responsibilities.”
Gauck also wondered what the reaction in Germany would be if Germans had their wages cut by 30 percent and their pensions by 40 percent.
