Jail terms over 2005 Helios plane crash may be commuted
A Greek appeals court on Thursday commuted the sentences of three employees of Helios Airways, a defunct Cypriot budget carrier, for their part in a 2005 plane crash near Grammatiko, northeastern Attica, in which 121 people died from asphyxiation.
The court ruled that the convicts, originally sentenced to 10 years each behind bars, could buy themselves out of their prison terms for 80,000 euros apiece.
