EFET orders withdrawal of fake extra-virgin olive oil
The Hellenic Food Authority (EFET) on Tuesday ordered the withdrawal of a product retailing as extra-virgin olive oil under the trade name Eleonis after tests revealed that it was a mixture of artificially colored rape seed oils.
EFET joined regional authorities in central Macedonia and officials of the Financial Crimes Unit (SDOE) in calling for the removal of the product after tests on five-liter samples taken from supermarket shelves in Thessaloniki revealed that it was not olive oil.
Consumers who have purchased the product are advised to return it.
